What might otherwise be a very traditional round automatic becomes a little sharper and more purposeful, especially against the angular lugs and framed date. Rather than using a conventional central rotor, Longines developed an unusual off-centre winding weight with a toothed outer rim, allowing the watch to wind in both directions while keeping the movement relatively slim. Its generously sized balance was another deliberate choice, helping to promote stable timekeeping. Introduced in the mid-1960s, the 345 is a fascinating piece of engineering, with much of its cleverness hidden beneath an otherwise beautifully understated watch.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch4\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eOUR THOUGHTS\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe have a real weakness for Longines that stand on their own, without a famous collection name doing the selling. This is one of them. Longines produced something beautifully understated on the outside while putting some genuinely inventive watchmaking inside.
