THE WATCH
Conquest is one of those Longines names that has never really gone away. It began in the 1950s as Longines gave a proper collection name to a watch intended to combine everyday usefulness with the quality expected from the brand, and that idea survived as the design changed through the following decades.
This example shows the quieter side of that evolution. A light silver-cream dial, slim baton markers and a date window do most of the work, with very little decoration needed. It is all proportion and restraint, which is exactly why the design still makes sense.
A BIT OF TRIVIA
Conquest was the first Longines collection name to be protected with the Swiss Federal Intellectual Property Office, in 1954. That makes the word on this dial more than just a model name: it marks the point when Longines began building named watch families in a way that feels completely normal today.
OUR THOUGHTS
We like vintage Conquests because they can be remarkably unfussy watches. This one is exactly that: the light dial, slim furniture and modest case let the Longines name carry weight without asking for attention. It feels considered rather than decorated, and that quiet confidence is a large part of the appeal.
